curled onyx hair
weaved around a girl's shoulders
a newborn is being hospitalized
crying
the nurse is not present
the girl comforts the child
her needy cries silenced
as the girl slowly rocks her
standing, watching, vigilant
like a mother hawk
the girl smiles
and the newborn grasps her finger
as if to say
"Thanks, nice to meet you."
and as the newborn
drifts to slumber
the girl; mother
has a single thought
so as not to disturb
"Welcome to the world, baby girl.
Good luck."

Curiousity killed -?- the cat
All was silent on a fresh patch of railroad track
the new ties and rails glistened
but if one listened closely enough
they could hear the soft patter
of a feline's paws
The whiskered noise of the animal
twitched at this new arrival
of unfamiliar steel scent
lingering in his territory
He then perked his head;
a faint light crept upon his eyes
his tail twitched
as he sank to the ground
ears flat to his skull
the light grew
and the track shook
The engine came barreling
down the rails
its whistle piercing the air
yet the cat stood his ground
ready to pounce
The distance closing
between it and the animal
fear suddenly stru
The reds and pinks of
a new morning's skyline show
of the day ahead
--------------------------------------------
The calming silence
of a wintry landscape;
snow falls to the ground

An owl perches in
a hallowed oak tree, telling
the night of its tales

Don't read this out loud.
A very strong yet fragile thing
This entity we know,
As powerful as any king
Who rises from the low
To lead his people from the bad
and straight into the good
But this thing that's known as silence
Can fall just as it stood.
For every wise man comes to know
Although it's quite absurd
That something strong as silence
Can be shattered with one word.
I, the weary traveler
Roamed the spiritual plane
Time seemed to stop
As the sun and moon ceased
To rise and set
Frozen in a twilit abyss
I carried on, unaware
Of the beast that lay ahead.
Many had spoken of how the monster's
Armor could grant the wish
of the wearer, but none had succeeded
in retrieving it.
As my feet carried along,
The beast had noticed my presence.
I came to a halt
As it bellowed out into the air
"Who dares to enter my realm? Perhaps
Yet another foolish mortal determined
To slay me for my armor?"
With my intentions true, I responded
"No, beast. I have not
Come for your armor."
It reared its serpenti
I wonder if the
Burning leaves of autumn
Know of their beauty.
